COVID COMES
The POTUS said “Don’t worry,
It’s only just the flu.”
For youth it seemed his story
Was close to being true.
But for it’s older quarry
We found that he had lied,
As many a mortuary filled
With seniors who had died.
Donald claimed “We're on it”
“Gone, by June” he said,
And then we saw it growing
With freezers full of dead.
The hope is for a vaccine,
It’s coming so they say,
And we may someday get it
If in our homes we stay.
We’re waiting now for Pfizer
Before the covid comes,
To take our lovely life from us
To leave us cold and dumb.
Now variants are spreading
More dangerous we hear,
Our masks and social distancing
Can’t shield us from our fear.
We’re yearning for a little shot
T’will take away our fears,
And give us hope, for all we want,
A few more living years.
We share the joy of others
Who have had that happy jab,
To know they're safe, at least for now,
From an untimely slab.
I’m anxious for the Vaccine
To liberate my mind,
To sleep in quiet peaceful dreams
To leave this horror behind.
